Club1, LLC is led by current college coaches from the University of Saint Francis, Chad LaCross, Luke Cummings, Todd Martin, and Jeremy Henney. Club1’s mission is to provide the best experiences for youth basketball in Northern Indiana for players, parents, coaches, and high school programs. To reach this mission, they will use their experience in coaching at the collegiate and high school levels, understanding of the recruiting process, experience in running the largest youth basketball leagues in Northern Indiana, and running multiple summer basketball camps.
Club1 will feature one of the few basketball clubs in Indiana that are organized, managed, and ran by college basketball coaches that are still involved with coaching and working on the court.
Players, parents, and coaches of Club1 can rest assured that the leadership of Club1 has the experiences necessary to know what it takes for them to improve on a daily basis. Whether they are looking to improve their skill set, become a great high school player, or find the right fit as a college basketball player. Club1 will help them Find their Greatness!
Chad LaCross, Head Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of Saint Francis, is currently in his 12th season for the Cougars. During the 2016 season, LaCross was named Rawlings-NAIA National Coach of the Year after the Cougars won 33 games, won the Crossroads League Regular Season & Crossroads League Tournament Championship, and played in the NAIA National Championship game. His teams have all posted winning seasons and he is the first coach to take five squads to the NAIA National Tournament in his first six seasons at USF. LaCross has guided his teams to three NAIA National Championship appearances, four Final Fours, two NAIA Elite 8’s, and a Final 32. Since taking over the program, USF has been ranked as high as #1 in the country in several NAIA National Polls. The Cougars have played in four of the last eleven NAIA National Championship games (winning the National Championship in 2010).
LaCross was a three-time NAIA All-American at Tri-State University (now Trine University), where he holds the TSU career scoring record with 2,650 points. He was the 2000-01 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Year after leading NAIA Division II in scoring and averaging a double-double. In 33 games that season, LaCross scored 901 points for an average of 27.3 points per game, including a school-record 51 points against Indiana Tech in the WHAC Tournament.
After earning his degree in sports and recreation at TSU/TU, LaCross played professional basketball for the Dodge City Legend in the United States Basketball League in 2001, and for the Guamuchil Halcones in the Cibacopa league in Mexico in 2002. In September 2006, he became the youngest inductee into the TSU/TU Athletic Hall of Fame. LaCross received a master’s degree in physical education from Ball State University in 2007.
A 1997 East Noble High School graduate (Kendallville, Ind.), LaCross was a member of the 1997 Indiana All-Star Team. He was named MVP in the Journal-Gazette Nancy Rehm Border Wars Game. He scored 492 points his senior season at East Noble – the third best single-season in Knights’ history. He finished with 892 career points, No. 10 on the ENHS career list.
LaCross resides in Huntertown with his wife Erin, daughters Ava and Mya, and son Bryce.
Luke Cummings, Associate Head Coach at the University of Saint Francis, returns for his twelfth season. He has helped guide USF to three NAIA National Championship game appearances, four Final Fours, two NAIA Elite Eight appearances, the school’s first MCC Conference tournament title in 2011. In 2016, Cummings help lead the Cougars to the best season in school history with a 33-5 overall record, a Crossroads League Regular Season & Tournament Championship, and a birth to the NAIA National Championship game.
Previously, Cummings served as head coach of the basketball programs at East Noble High School and Adams Central High School. Cummings is a Kokomo High School graduate and earned an undergraduate degree at IU-Kokomo and holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from IPFW.
Cummings started the Northeast Corner Basketball League while he was the head coach at East Noble High School and quickly grew it into the largest youth basketball league in Northern Indiana. The NCBL now includes over 90 boys and 70 girls teams in 3rd -8th grades. Cummings extended these basketball opportunities to the Kokomo and South Bend areas as well as he has partnered with coaching staffs at Kokomo High School and Holy Cross College to start similar leagues.
He is married to the former Kari Ellenberger, and they reside in Fort Wayne with their five children—Elliott, Oliver, Henry, Vivienne, and Lyndon.
Todd Martin has spent the past nine seasons on the sidelines for the University of Saint Francis men’s basketball program. Martin assisted in USF winning the 2016 Crossroads League Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Martin has also been part of five USF teams that finished in the post season (NAIA Final 32, two NAIA Elite 8’s, and a appearance in the 2016 NAIA National Championship game).
Martin was born and raised in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School and earned a degree in marketing from IPFW. Martin has coached several successful years in AAU and youth basketball in the Fort Wayne area. Many of his former players went on to play either college basketball or football. Todd has worked 22 years at Central States Enterprises in New Haven, Ind., as their accounting manager. He is also co-owner of Encore Carpet Cleaning. Todd and his wife Tammy have four children—sons Justin, and Conlan, and daughter Taryn.
A native of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Henney joins Club1 as the Director of Basketball and is an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of Saint Francis. Henney joined the USF staff in 2015 and helped USF earn their first League Championship in 16 years. Prior to USF, Henney spent three seasons as the Associate Head coach at Huntington University. At Huntington Henney was in charge of recruiting and scouting opponents. In his second year at Huntington he helped the Foresters go from an 8th place Crossroad League finish in 2012-2013 season to a 2nd place finish during the 2013-2014 campaign and a trip to the national tournament. Prior to his most recent position, he was the Head High School Coach at Gibson Southern High School in Fort Branch, Indiana. Before taking the position at Gibson Southern he was on the staff at Davidson College. During his two years at Davidson the team won 27 games each year and made two trips to the NCAA Tournament. In the 2007-2008 season the Wildcats lost to the national champions Kansas in the Elite Eight. Davidson finished the year ranked #9 in the final USA Today Poll. While at Davidson Henney worked with Jason Richards who spent two years with the Miami Heat and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. Henney also worked briefly as an assistant for John Lentz at Lenior-Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina and spent four years as a high school assistant at Fred T. Foard High School in Newton, North Carolina.
A 2002 graduate of Indiana University with a degree in secondary social studies education, Henney is married to the former Kala Riney of Evansville, Ind. They have two sons, Jay and Duke.
